September 10, 2010
Author: admin @ 11:46 am

Paris Hilton is famous and beautiful. She is an American socialite, an heiress, an actress and a media personality.  She became famous when a controversial sex tape she made with her then-boyfriend Richard Salomon was release in 2003 and for her appearance on the reality television series The Simple Life which she made with one of her childhood best friend, Nicole Richie. She was also known for her world famous tongue-in-cheek autobiography, which she did in 2004. As an actress, she has had several minor film roles. One of her most famous role was in the 2005 horror film, House of Wax. Like some celebrities, she’s had her share of legal troubles, including her much publicized sentence of 45 days in a Los Angeles County jail, back in 2007.

However, Paris Hilton understands the importance of personal security that she installed security cameras and motion detection alarms in her Hollywood Hills, home. So when, in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 24th 2010, an intruder tried to break into her home, she was alerted by her motion detection alarm. She then saw the intruder, later identified as Nathan Lee Parada, on one of her security cameras wielding two big knives attempting to break one of her windows. She called the police and this low-life was arrested immediately. Apparently, this same Parada character had been arrested a month early for allegedly breaking into a Kohl’s department store and stealing over $15,000 worth of jewelry.  Although, Miss Hilton was shaken by this incident, she is thankful that she’s unharmed and glad she has a home security system.

Without a doubt, this incident further stresses the importance of keeping our homes safe with security cameras and motion detection alarms.  Nothing really beats the peace of mind of knowing that you and your loved ones are safe and well protected.

According to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting, over 70% of all burglary crimes occur in residential homes and over 60% of these burglaries involve forcible entry. So why is that so many homeowners are spending more time and money on home improvement instead of home security? They probably think crime always happen to other people or that they live in a “safe neighborhood.” Well, crime don’t always happen to other people, you could be the next victim. And frankly, there is no such thing as a “safe neighborhood” anywhere, anymore.

However, there are a number of measures you can take to improve the security of your home. It could be as simple as installing a home security camera to deter criminals away from your home. You might even consider motion detection sensors that warn you when an intruder is near your home or sensors and alarms that alert you of the presence of an intruder already in your home. There are also wireless home security systems that offer protection against glass breakage. They protect windows and/or door openings and detects intruder movement, via infrared motion sensors. We now have home burglar alarm systems that will trigger a base unit to call a programmed telephone number.

Some one breaks into your home while you’re away, you get a call on your cell phone, you have the options to; listen in, broadcast your voice throughout the whole house, disarm the system or call the police. While all of these modern methods will help improve the security of your home, you should start with the traditional security methods, by installing sturdy doors and deadbolt locks. Install grills on your windows if needed. Because, the modern home security systems only complement the traditional ones.

Most homeowners are now realizing that, one of the most effective way prevent their homes from been vandalized or burglarized is having an adequate home security systems.

Author: admin @ 11:18 pm

Hidden cameras have come a long way. Several years ago these hidden video cameras were mainly used by intelligence agencies and private investigators, but the use of these hidden spy cameras is now common amongst private individuals and businesses. These hidden wireless cameras are changing the world we live in. They are making us more self-conscious. A lot of celebrities, company executives, private citizens and businesses, and government agencies are being caught in the act of iniquity by these undercover video cameras. Quite frankly, you will be amazed by what the people you think you trusted or those that you think ought to be role models, do when they think nobody is watching.

Recently, the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson was caught on hidden video asking for about $700,000, from an undercover reporter for an exclusive access to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, who is a British Special Representative for Trade and Investment. “If you want to meet him in your business, look after me and he’ll look after you…you’ll get it back tenfold,” Ferguson is seen saying on video, while accepting a $40,000 cash down payment from the undercover reporter.

A Chicago-based non-profit group, Mercy For Animals, says that the hidden video camera played a major role in an undercover investigation at a Dairy Farms in Ohio. In the video, workers are seen beating cows with crowbars and stabbing them with pitchforks. It was called the most brutal and resentful case of animal abuse ever documented. “Workers violently punching young calves in the face, body slamming them to the ground, and pulling and throwing them by their ears,” said Runkle, executive director of the non-profit organization.

Again, the group ACORN fired two of its employees who were caught on hidden video camera giving income tax advice to a man and a woman, posing as a pimp and a prostitute. In the video posted online by conservative activist James O’Keefe, the man and the woman are seen inquiring about buying a home and how they should state the source of the woman’s income on the tax forms. And an ACORN employee advised the woman to say she is a “performance artist.”

Even the United States Army is investigating three of its own Middle Tennessee recruiters, because of an undercover hidden-camera investigation orchestrated by an investigative news reporter. It reveals that the Army were desperately recruiting the mentally ill to serve on the front lines. The investigation began when a mentally ill recruit committed suicide.

Undoubtedly, all of these crimes would have been very difficult if not impossible to uncover without the use of the hidden camera. Therefore, it is justifiable to say that the role of these hidden cameras in detecting crimes in our society, cannot be overemphasized

A lot people doubt the effectiveness of stun guns. They argue that , why use a stun gun when you can just get a real gun. But others argue that real guns kill, real guns can cause permanent damage. Stun guns are non lethal—they don’t cause any lasting damage. In addition , they say what if your attacker snatches the gun, then you could be killed or be hurt for life. Whereas, if it were a stun gun you would only be out of commission for several seconds. Today, we see the increasing popularity of these stun guns amongst law enforcement agencies, private companies and individuals. As a matter of fact , police officers throughout the nation say they will use their revolvers if the have to, but they would rather use a stun gun. A few weeks ago, a man was overpowered with a stun gun by the Ponte Verda Beach police after he resisted arrest for disorderly intoxication at The Players Championship golf tournament. Just recently, during a playoff game between the Orlando Magic and the Boston Celtics the Orlando police used a stun gun to subdue a fan that was resisting arrest and throwing punches. Swimming Pool Alarms- How They Can Increase Your Pool Safety.

June 26, 2010
Author: admin @ 7:27 pm

Swimming pools can be a lot of fun especially if you have kids. Kids of ages love the pool, they love to play around in the water. But swimming pools can also be very dangerous for children, due to fact that they could drown. As a matter of fact, swimming pool accidents are one of the main causes of death of children under the age of 5 years. In a recent study conducted by the United States Consumer Products Safety Commission it was estimated that about 300 children under the age of five drown annually in residential swimming pools in the US and more than 2,000 additional children in that age group are treated in hospital emergency rooms for submersion injuries. Drowning remains the second leading killer of children under the age of 14 and, in many Sunbelt states, drowning tops the list. In addition, drowning can happen in seconds and usually takes place when a child is left unsupervised or during a brief lapse in supervision. It takes approximately two minutes for a drowning child to lose consciousness, and about four to six minutes for irreversible brain damage to occur.

Pool owners should always be aware of the danger a swimming pool can pose, especially to children and pets. But a pool safety alarm will warn you if someone is close to or inside your swimming pool. Pool alarms have sensors that automatically senses when anyone, anything, people or pets, enter the pool. However, these swimming pool alarms are intended to boost other safety measures such as pool perimeter fences and supervision, and should not be relied on as the sole means of pool safety. They can, however, play a key role in protecting lives when other measures have failed.

Today, a pool alarm is must-have for every pool owner who wants the peace of mind of knowing that their pool is safe for their children and pets alike. Installing a swimming pool alarm would be one of the wisest decision any pool owner could ever make.

Hidden Video Cameras- How They Are Detecting Crimes

June 22, 2010
Author: admin @ 5:15 pm

Several years ago we were all able to easily spot surveillance cameras wherever they were mounted and this was due largely to the fact that they were big and bulky. However, with the advancement in technology, it is becoming extremely difficult if not impossible to tell, what is or what is not a surveillance camera. The lenses of these cameras have become so small that they can now be installed in practically anything. These secret hidden cameras can now be planted in items as small as a ballpoint pen, a wrist watch and so forth.

So, because of their versatility and portability the use of these hidden cameras or spy cameras as some people call them, is becoming increasingly popular in our society. Today, more and more people are using hidden security cameras for different purposes. Parents are using nanny cams to monitor their childcare workers and babysitters to ensure that their children are they being treat humanely. People with loved ones in the nursing homes are using wireless hidden cameras to catch abuses or neglect in these nursing homes. Homeowners are using spy cameras to monitor their valuables or catch a trusted person in a treacherous act. Investigating agencies and private investigators use spy cameras to collect unquestionable evidence. Television stations are now using these hidden cameras to expose scam artists and con artists. Private companies are using office hidden cameras to monitor employee activity. Business owners have been able to uncover among other things theft, trespassing, and inappropriate conduct by using these hidden cameras. Businesses sometimes locate these hidden cameras inside or behind various displays in the store so that, unless you look hard, you will not be able to see the camera. Stores with lots of expensive items almost always have these hidden security cameras watching for shoplifters.

Hidden video cameras are not used primarily to prevent crimes of any sort for the simple reason that these criminals do not know that they are actually being watched. However, a spy camera has only one goal when it comes to security: to catch the perpetrator in the act.
